The following resources are ones that have been curated by ABLG that families may find useful. It is important to note that the inclusion of resources on this website does not constitute an explicit endorsement of any/all statements or opinions held by these organizations and is instead a recognition that these are some of the most common and important resources, in particular, in the state of New Jersey. In addition, the inclusion of these resources should not be considered to constitute an endorsement of any of these organzations of ABLG.

Autism New Jersey is a nonprofit agency committed to ensuring safe and fulfilling lives for individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals who support them. Through awareness, credible information, education, and public policy initiatives, Autism New Jersey leads the way to lifelong individualized services provided with skill and compassion. Autism New Jersey recognizes the autism community’s many contributions to society and works to enhance their resilience, abilities, and quality of life.  

The Association for Science in Autism Treatment promotes safe, effective, science-based treatments for people with autism by disseminating accurate, timely, and scientifically sound information, advocating for the use of scientific methods to guide treatment, and combating unsubstantiated, inaccurate and false information about autism and its treatment.  ASAT provides a comprehensive website that is the go-to source for research summaries of the full array of autism treatments for families and professionals to support informed choice-making when considering treatment options. 

Bergen's Promise, the designated Care Management Organization (CMO) for Bergen County NJ, is a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the complex mental health and wellness needs of children up to age 21 with identified emotional and behavioral challenges, substance use issues, and intellectual and developmental disabilities.  A vital component of the NJ Children's System of Care, the CMO embraces a Wraparound Approach to care management - enhanced by integrated Behavioral Health Home services for medical care coordination for youth with co-occurring behavioral and medical health issues – which strengthens the child's and family's ability to meet life's challenges, and fosters resiliency and hope for a better future. 

Autism Family Services of New Jersey, an affiliate of The Family Resource Network, founded 2004, is dedicated to ensuring a better quality of life for individuals and their families affected by Autism and related disorders throughout the lifespan.  It is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to developing programs such as respite care, after school and recreation programs.

The Office of Special Education has a responsibility under federal statute and regulations to operate a system of general supervision that monitors the implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 (IDEA) by local education agencies (LEAs). The system is accountable for enforcing the requirements and for ensuring continuous improvement. The office supports the mission of the Department by providing leadership in establishing standards which promote improved outcomes for students with disabilities, as well as by ensuring consistency in the procedures that public agencies implement for meeting compliance with state and federal regulations. 

The NJ Department of Health provides information about autism, information for the public and information for professionals. In particular for families, the site has infomation on the Autism Registry, a tool designed to link families to special child health case management services, which are county based coordinated service providers that have many years of experience and knowledge of local, county, and statewide resources available to families of children with special health care needs.  

Special Olympics New Jersey is dedicated to bringing pride into the lives of all involved. They are a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide sports training and athletic competition (completely free of charge) to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and, in doing so, give them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Their online resource for family fun and information will help parents find meaningful things to do with kids in NJ: summer camps, kid's classes and activities, fun attractions, and plenty of kids' services. You'll also find virtual things to do and parenting tips to help keep your family engaged.
