Resources for Professionals

The following resources are ones that have been curated by ABLG that professionals in the field of autism, ABA, and speech-language pathology may find useful. It is important to note that the inclusion of resources on this website does not constitute an explicit endorsement of any/all statements or opinions held by these organizations and is instead a recognition that these are some of the most common and important resources, in particular, in the state of New Jersey. In addition, the inclusion of these resources should not be considered to constitute an endorsement of any of these organzations of ABLG.

The Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc.® (BACB®) has been the leader in behavior analyst certification for over two decades. The BACB is a nonprofit corporation that was established in 1998 to meet professional certification needs identified by behavior analysts, governments, and consumers of behavior-analytic services. The BACB’s mission is to protect consumers of behavior-analytic services by systematically establishing, promoting, and disseminating professional standards of practice.  

The Association of Professional Behavior Analysts (APBA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote and advance the science-based practice of behavior analysis by advocating for public policies and informing, supporting, and protecting practitioners and consumers. APBA has memberships for practitioners of applied behavior analysis (ABA), other professionals, consumers of ABA services, and students. 

The Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting behavior analysis. The organization has over 9,000 members. The group organizes conferences and publishes journals on the topic of applied behavior analysis (ABA). ABAI has issued detailed, specific position papers intended to guide practitioners of ABA. 

Autism New Jersey is a nonprofit agency committed to ensuring safe and fulfilling lives for individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals who support them. Through awareness, credible information, education, and public policy initiatives, Autism New Jersey leads the way to lifelong individualized services provided with skill and compassion. Autism New Jersey recognizes the autism community’s many contributions to society and works to enhance their resilience, abilities, and quality of life.  

The Association for Science in Autism Treatment promotes safe, effective, science-based treatments for people with autism by disseminating accurate, timely, and scientifically sound information, advocating for the use of scientific methods to guide treatment, and combating unsubstantiated, inaccurate and false information about autism and its treatment.  ASAT provides a comprehensive website that is the go-to source for research summaries of the full array of autism treatments for families and professionals to support informed choice-making when considering treatment options. 

The New Jersey Association for Behavior Analysis (NJABA), an affiliated chapter of the Association for Behavior Analysis, International (ABAI) and an affiliate of the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts (APBA), was founded to promote the discipline of behavior analysis in New Jersey.  It's mission is to advance the science and evidence-based practice of behavior analysis through research, education, service delivery, and advocacy in the state of New Jersey. 

The New Jersey Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NJSHA) is the premier state professional organization that empowers audiologists, speech-language pathologists, speech, language and hearing scientists and future professionals by providing resources and support to its members and those they serve through: professional development/continuing education; advocacy; public awareness; and networking and mentoring. Its goal is to prioritize effective communication and the highest quality of life for all through professional excellence.

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is the national professional, scientific, and credentialing association for 223,000 members and affiliates who are audiologists; speech-language pathologists; speech, language, and hearing scientists; audiology and speech-language pathology support personnel; and students. ASHA's mission is to empower and support audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists through: advancing science, setting standards, fostering excellence in professional practice, and advocating for members and those they serve.
