Need help teaching safety skills, having successful community outings, or looking for support teaching hygiene skills? ABLG can help

What does a typical home-based ABA program consist of?

Home-based ABA services often involve three major components:

Direct  Therapy

An ABA Therapist/RBT directly teaching new skills and helping to reduce challenging behaviors

Program Coordination

A BCBA providing direction and support to an ABA Therapist/RBT and monitoring/modifying programming as appropriate

Caregiver Coaching

A BCBA working with families on knowledge and implementation of ABA programming

When do home-based ABA services take place?

Home-based services are typically provided after school hours and typically run between the hours of 4pm and 7pm, Monday through Friday. If a family and the individual ABA Therapist/BCBA are willing to have different start/end hours (e.g., 3:30 or 7:30) or days (e.g., Saturday or Sunday), clients are allowed to have services outside the standard hours. The amount of hours for services are determined based on the needs of the client and what the funding source (e.g., an insurance company) approves.

Are ABLG's home-based services only for individuals with a diagnosis of autism?

Definitely not! Home-based services can be for individuals with other diagnoses such as ADHD.

Importantly, ADHD (in the absence of an autism diagnosis) will not be approved for insurance-based services - therefore, this service would be funded by private pay or school districts. In addition, the services provided may be different from those of a more traditional home program. For instance, while a typical home program for a child with autism might include a combination of direct ABA therapy and oversight from a BCBA, a home program for an individual with a diagnosis of ADHD may primarily consist of support from a BCBA (consultation, parent training, etc.).
